Weekend Wine – Craft Beer and Pomerol Time!

white horse

After a long week of admin, and plenty of chatting with HMRC (who were incredibly helpful I must say!), I think I deserve a relaxing weekend, and it’s all in the capable hands of my good mate Charlie.

We’ll be heading off to Oxfordshire to see him and his parents at their lovely farm, deep in the countryside. I think when foreigners think of England, I’m assuming Oxfordshire fits the bill. Beautiful scenery, lots of agriculture, and some ridiculously big estates knocking around. It really is a great place to visit!

We’re starting Saturday doing a tour at the Hook Norton Brewery. It’s somewhere Charlie’s always wanted to go round, and I’m definitely not going to say no! It’ll get the weekend going nicely!

Straight after that it’s down the pub for some lunch at the White Horse Inn in Duns Tew. Charlie, the lovely fella he is, has tried to find a pub with a good wine list for me. Looks like he’s nailed it!

And then it’s back to the farm for England vs Italy in the 6 nations (hopes are high after trouncing the Welsh last week in their own back yard!!). Charlie’s mum is a top cook, it’ll be country cooking to max which is always a welcome relief for a townie like me. I’ve already packed the magnum of Pomerol to go with the pheasant 🙂

Should be a top do all round. Hope you guys and girls are doing lots of great stuff yourselves.

Have top weekends all!

Cheers

Mike
