Organic? Biodynamic? Women in wine? Castell D’Age, from Penedes in Catalunya, must be right up there as a hashtagger’s dream winery. I met this brilliant team when they were attending the Millsime Bio Organic Wine Fair in Montpellier late in January 2018. Top wines, top people, and the story to boot. I couldn’t not do a quick blog, could I?
Earlier today I popped along to a tasting morning by the fine people at Juvé & Camp. They’ve been making world class Cava for decades, and I have to say this was Cava like nothing I’d ever drunk before. But more on that later, this tasting was all about pointing out the Cava point of difference.
This week’s a pretty good one for any of you out there are struggling a bit with your palate to start off with. I’m going to just assume that Cava is one of those drinks that most if not all of you will have had in the past. You’re not going to have to wander round the aisles like a blue-arsed fly trying to read all the labels, you know what you’re after, you’re comfortable with it already, and you can have a good go at working out all the different smells and tastes yourselves.
Yeah this is one of the hardest questions to answer when you’re in the early stages of your wine drinking. A glass of bubbly is a glass of bubbly, right? How many of you refer to every sparkling wine you drink as Champagne?
