Less What I Want To Do, More What I NEED To Do In 2016!

new year

Most people get to the start of a New Year and think about all these resolutions they could have a go at. Heading down to the gym, eating better, stop smoking, and all the usual stuff like that. Well I was having a think myself and realized that rather than stuff that I’d like to change, there are certain things that I genuinely need to achieve, otherwise this little jaunt of mine (following my dream and joining the wine industry) might need a rethink.

How Hard Is It To Volunteer?

For this New Year’s I decided that rather than stand with thousands of randoms on Primrose Hill (looking at the fireworks over Thames and dodging firecrackers from the knobheads in the crowd) I’d try and do some voluntary work.  I know that homeless shelters get inundated this time of year and I wanted to help out where I could.  Sounds easy right?

New Year’s Drinking Tips

So I’ve had a week off writing the blog as I ate far too much and drank…nah actually…I drank exactly the right amount! But as everyone seems to be throwing out pieces on which Champagnes to waste your money on, I thought I’d chip in with a couple of tips on what to have at all your parties.

So I was having a think about new year’s resolutions the other day. I don’t usually bother. Most of the things you decide to do are usually all forgotten about by February anyway, but this year I really fancied finding something I had a chance of keeping it all going.

So there I was on Twitter and read up a tweet by Anthony from “Confessions of a Wine Geek”. It was a “what’s anybody doing special wine-wise in the new year?” kind of thing. I thought it’d be cool to have a flick through the lesser known wines, so I replied and said “I’m going to have a brand new wine every week for the rest of the year!”

It’s that time of year isn’t it?

A couple of weeks ago I got asked by a new foodie mate up in the awesome part of the UK that is Yorkshire to put a few thoughts on Christmas wine. Well it’s my first christmas as a blogger, so I was well up for doing it.

He posted it a week or so ago, and i decided to reblog it now to everyone else.

If any of you fancy having a look at the original, Graham’s site can be found at http://grahamlawn.wordpress.com.

There’ll be some more blogs in the next week or so, but might as well use this time to wish everyone a happy christmas and new year. Eat lots, drink lots, and don’t worry about the belly til January!

My musings on life.

Please Bring Me My Wine’s Guide To Pairing Up Christmas Food and Drink

I’m actually turning into my parents. I’ve started catching myself saying “dear me, hasn’t christmas crept up again this year?” I knew it would happen at some point, but unfortunately I am merely moments away from working out where to put the armchair so I can doze off to Morecambe and Wise re-runs.

There are of course upsides into a slightly more ‘experienced’ view point on christmas. (I’m not saying mature, if you’d met my parents you’d know why!) As much as I used to love the…
