Sherry with balls! – Tio Pepe En Rama

I had a meet up at the weekend with a very nice fella called Ben from Gonzalez Byass. We’re going to host an Alsace wine dinner at La Ferme in Primrose Hill at the end of the month, so we were just smashing through the menu. And the naughty lad brought a little present along…

Gonzalez Byass is, as the name would suggest, big into their Sherry. They’ve got top names like Tio Pepe and Croft, and plenty of cool looking type small production lines to keep the purists and the big buyers happy.

One line I’d heard of for a while is the Tio Pepe En Rama release. Small batch fino sherry, unfined and unfiltered, and packed full of colour and flavour. But I’d never got my hands on a bottle before. Cheers Ben!!

This is a ballsy sherry that is just getting better year on year as the Solera that’s finishing it off develops more and more flavour.

And the remarkable bit? Well it’s sherry isn’t it? So few people understand it that us sherry-lovers get this top tipple for monkey nuts! £15ish for one of the best fino sherries money can buy.

Keep an eye out for it!

Cheers

Tio Pepe En Rama is at selected independents in the UK until they run out. Ask your local wine merchant.

20h33 and Gonzalez Byass are hosting a Domaine Zind Humbrecht at La Ferme Primrose Hill on Wednesday 23rd May, check ticket information online HERE
