Ant’s taking the reigns off me for the next two weeks, and he’s kicking off with a real crowd pleaser. It’s from Austria, it’s Grüner Veltliner.
This is the most famously “Austrian” white grape variety, that some how manages to find a gap between Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer and plugs it.
It’s a dry white wine and most of them are pretty light, so the food pairings this week should be pretty open to ideas!
Majestic Wine
Weingärten Weissenkirchen, Grüner Veltliner, 2012, Wachau
£8.99
Morrison’s
Laurenz V. Forbidden Grüner Veltliner
£11.99
Sainsbury’s
Taste The Difference Austrian Grüner Veltliner, Niederösterreich
£7.49
Spirited Wines
Weingut Rabl, Grüner Veltliner, Niederösterreich
£9.95
The Morrison’s by me in Camden Town aren’t supplied with any Grüner Veltliner because their head office has said that no one in our area wants it. So maybe I’ll have to miss out Morrison’s this week, and look for a super sub…
…I think I have one in mind!
Cheers
