#NWTW Week 39: Prosecco

week 13 italian flag

Basically I got in there quick before Any this week, and am heading off to Italy again for another wine that’s much maligned recently. I’m determined to spend this week getting people to drink it and love it for what it is. It’s Prosecco from North East Italy.

I’ll spend the week touching on how and where it’s made, why it’s such a different wine to champagne or cava, and when’s the right time to be cracking open these bottles. But first and foremost we need to get hold of a few bottles to taste.

I’ve subbed in Aldi for Morrisons this week. Mostly because over this year I’ve had more conversations with a brick wall than with anyone at Morrisons, but also I’ve heard great things about Aldi’s range in recent weeks. So we’ll give it a go.

My picks this week are:

Taste the Difference Conegliano Prosecco @ £7.50 (25% off at the minute)

Aldi Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore @ £7.49

Majestic Wine
La Marca’s Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene NV @ £11.24 (25% off mix)

Spirited Wines
Ruggeri’s Quartese Prosecco Superiore @ £14.85

SC 1931 Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene 2009 @ NOK 159.90

Happy shopping guys!

  1. I didn’t know Prosecco was getting a bad press? I think it is quite well respected here in US? Or then may be I live in a cave…

    1. Starting to in the UK a bit, mostly cos few bother to work out the difference between it and Cava or Champagne or something along those lines. Supermarkets went through a period of shovelling out co-op crap for a a few years, but now back to the better stuff, so thought a good time to revisit.
