Well Ant’s really gone for the go big or go home tactic this week!
We’re going for one of the New World classics, Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, which is down on the Limestone Coast in South Australia.
Lots to talk about this week on the run up to the weekend’s tastings, but first and foremost, here are my picks for the week…
Majestic Wine
Hamilton Block Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra
£8.65
Morrison’s
Morrison’s Signature Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
£7.49
Sainsbury’s
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet
£10.00
Spirited Wines
Berton Vineyards Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
£13.41
Ok, so strictly speaking the wines from Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s aren’t from Coonawarra specifically. I’ve tried to get a pure varietal (only Cabernet Sauvignon, not a blend) from as near as damn it to Coonawarra as I can. The Wolf Blass is from grapes from across South Australia.
Anyway, happy shopping.
Cheers

The Berton Vineyards Reserve is almost a house-wine at my place… I love the stuff. This is going to be a great week… my money is on it being the highest scoring red so far; the whites are killing it at the moment!
Daft isn’t it, given how many of us reckon we’re predominantly red drinkers! Maybe we’re just scoring them a bit harshly? Or maybe we’re just surprising ourselves with how good the whites are?
I’m beginning to think there is more value at the sub £10 range for whites – you have to pay a bit more for quality reds? Great fun whatever!
