The people have decided! We’re off to the east of Australia for week 59 of New Wine The Week. It’s time for Hunter Valley.
The Hunter Valley is Sydney’s very own wine region, or at least for the size of Australia it kind of counts as just down the road. Without a question the number one famous wine from the area is aged Semillon. Normally a white grape used for blending or producing noble rot sweet wines, in Australia it manages to go from very basic, when put in bottle, to incredibly vibrant and complex after a few years.
Let’s give it a go!
The picks for this week are…

The Lovedale Semillon, right at the very top of my favourite white wines of all time, is regarded as one of the best examples and sitting equally with Tyrrell’s Vat1.
Well that is what’s known in the trade as a glowing recommendation!! 🙂
