I got an email a few weeks back by the fine folks at Luxx PR and asked if I fancied taking part in a cocktail making challenge? It was in conjunction with Chase spirits and Heartsease mixers, and I just had to come up with a cocktail using their ingredients. Never really had a go at making a cocktail from scratch before, so sounded like a laugh. A few days later a couple of samples of gin and vodka turned up with a selection of the Heartsease products. Time to get mixing!
Well I kind of cheated. I went round to see some friends who kindly volunteered to have a go with me on this. So we ended up coming up with 3 different cocktails. None of them won obviously, but I think one of them came sixth which, for four rank amateurs, was a pretty good result.
Let’s see if I can remember it now…
Counsell’s Winter Warmer
1 shot Chase vodka
1 shot Chase gin
2 shots Heartsease spiced winter cranberry
1 pinch nutmeg
– Shake over ice
– Serve with a handful of frozen berries
I was actually pretty chuffed with the outcome to be fair! Thanks to Ben, Nick, and Mieks for coming up with the mixtures, to Luxx for letting me have a go, and to Chase and Heartsease for supplying the samples.
Cheers
