Sit Back And Enjoy The Ride – High Speed Train To Bordeaux In 2020

Ever since you could book a train to Bordeaux in one go on the Eurostar website, the idea of flying out there is a thing of the past for me.  I’m not a big fan of flying, or airports, or travelling back and forth to airports.  I’m also a staunch opponent of the amount of air travel we do in this world and what an awful impact it has on air pollution.  We’ve got to stop this shit soon, it’s really really not good.

Anyway, trains are the way forward as far as I’m concerned, and a couple of hours to Paris, an hour’s stop over, and another couple of hours down to Bordeaux is a great way to do it.  But rumour has it, it’s about to get even better…

A group of operators, including the UK’s HS1, Eurostar, and SNCF are teaming up to look into a direct, non-stop journey from London to Bordeaux; City to city travel, from King’s Cross, all the way to St Jean.  The proposed route will miss out Paris all together and you can just sit there blissfully catching up on a bit of work or pinging your way through some TV shows or films.

The proposed new route will be in operation by 2020 they reckon, so it’s time to buy yourself a Lazenne case now, and book your 20h33 wine tour with JB.  These buggers are going to sell out quick!!

Cheers

  1. This is fantastic news!! Hubs and I skipped Bordeaux when we were in France a couple years ago because it was just too far out of the way from the rest of our wine travels (Burgundy/Rhone). With this – we could knock out 2 places on our “must see” list: London and Bordeaux. Fingers crossed that the rumors are true!
