Did You Know Blowers Has His Own Wine?

France, Reds, Uncategorized, Whites

Unless you’re into cricket, you won’t know who Blowers is. Henry Calthorpe Blofeld is arguably the most famous cricket commentator in the UK, and is famed for his very eloquent, Old Etonian style of taking us through the summer’s cricket for Test Match Special, an absolute institution on British radio. In fact I’ve just been listening to it this morning and heard Michael Vaughn and Jonathan Agnew talking about last night’s knees up round Blowers’ place, and nailing back his own label wine. How have I not tried Blowers’ wine?

Blowers’ French Plonk

Turns out that The Wine Company have sourced some co-op producers in Burgundy and the Rhone Valley and sorted out a “Blowers’ White Burgundy” from the Côte Chalonnaise, and a “Blowers’ Rhône” from the Côtes Du Rhône Villages. Not cheap at £15 a bottle, or £17.50 if you want them signed ;), but hey, I’ve not tried them yet, they might well be belters.

Summer Sipping

Doesn’t sound like a bad drop to open up on a summer’s afternoon listening to the cricket, does it?  Has anyone tried it yet?

  1. Henry, very interested to know that you are doing this. I shall read your updates with interest. Just moved to a Georgian house in Stalham with a cellar! David Eldridge – former beater with the late Holly and Poppy who is still beating in her twelfth year, having been born 07/07/2007! Still hear about Bob George from Richard Colman my sailing companion.
