#NWTW 57 – F is for Fermentation

Flags - France

Fermentation has only gone and blood won it! That last minute electioneering from Wine By Ari has sealed the deal and it’s your pick for week 57.

Now, fermentation, hmmm, how to settle this one into just one then? Fermentation is the alcoholic fermentation of grape sugars into alcohol, so every wine goes through it. In terms of narrowing this one down I’ve got to just plump for something, a special kind of maceration.

I’m going for Carbonic Maceration. I’ll spend the week telling you what that is, and why certain wine styles use it. But for now, let’s just say it’s a huge phenomenon in the French region of Beaujolais. So that’s what we’re picking this week.

My picks are:

Lidl
La Croix des Célestins, Fleurie, 2013 @ £6.49

Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference Beaujolais Villages @ £7.25

Spirited Wines
Loron et Fils “Au Beau Moulin”, Moulin à Vent, 2012 @ £15.29

Vinmonopolet
Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages, 2012 @ NOK 131.20

Waitrose
Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages, 2012 @ £8.99

The Wine Rack
Beaujolais Louis Jadot, 2012 @ £8.99

Happy hunting

Cheers

Mike
