#NWTW Week 49: Chardonnay from New Zealand (Part Two)

New Wine This Week, New Zealand, Whites

I know what you’re thinking. I’ve messed up the title and I really meant to type Sauvignon Blanc. But absolutely not. As much as we can all have a decent chat about that particular wine, given we’ve all had plenty of it over the years, this week Ant’s gone for a grape that is starting to make a home for itself in the middle of all the Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blancs; Chardonnay.

Thing is, behind the fame of the Sauvignon Blancs, New Zealand wine makers have been making Chardonnay to a top, and individual, standard for years. This is reflected by the amount of choice on the shelves. There’s the usual brands, as well as plenty of smaller producers available across the UK.

My picks for this week are:

Tesco – Wairau Cove, Gisbourne, Chardonnay @ £10.99

Marks and Spencer – Kaituna Hills Reserve, Marlborough, Chardonnay @ £10.99

Sainsbury’s – Oyster Bay, Marlborough, Chardonnay @ £11.00

Waitrose – Saint Clair, Marlborough, Chardonnay @ £15.99

Majestic Wine – Villa Maria Cellar Selection, Marlborough, Chardonnay @ £9.74

Spirited Wines – Bushmere Estate, Gisbourne, Chardonnay @ £18.96

Vinmonopolet – Craggy Range Kidnapper, Hawke’s Bay, Chardonnay @ NOK 220

Happy hunting
